We see more reptiles than an other veterinarian in Vermont. As with birds, most of the problems we see in reptiles are related to owners who have the incorrect information on how to care for their exotic pets. Depending on the species of repitle, important things to consider in their are are:

  1. Full spectrum UVB lighting
  2. Correct temperatures and temperature gradient (hot to cold) in the enclosure
  3. Substrate, what the animal is walking on
  4. Nutrition, including the variety of food and how it is grown/raised
  5. Supplements including vitamins and minerals
  6. Humidity in the enclosure
  7. Intestinal and external parasite control
